Dementia Family Care
Real-life dementia care, from one family caregiver to another.
Dementia Family Care was created from more than twelve years of caring for my mother with dementia at home.
When I first became a caregiver, I had to figure out many of the practical parts of daily life on my own—how to make the house safer, prevent problems before they happened, handle repeated questions, make bathing easier, keep Mom active, and still find ways to live some of my own life.
Over the years, small changes added up. I learned that caregiving often becomes more manageable when you stop reacting to the same problems every day and start building prevention into the home and daily routine.
I created Dementia Family Care to share those practical lessons with other families caring for someone they love.
This site is about the everyday side of dementia care: home safety, routines, communication, hygiene, activities, caregiver life, and the small solutions that can make a difficult day a little easier.
I’m not a doctor, nurse, or dementia specialist. What I share here comes from my own experience as a daughter and family caregiver. When medical or professional guidance is needed, I’ll point readers toward appropriate professional resources.
Every person with dementia is different, and every family is different. My hope is simply that something I’ve learned over the years can save another caregiver some time, worry, or trial and error.
You don’t have to do everything the way I do. Take what helps, adapt it to your family, and find what works in your home.
